The first time Tierra Smith moved from one state to another was when her family moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Houston, Texas. Her mother began packing boxes as Smith and her siblings watched in disbelief.

“She was packing and nobody else was packing,” Smith said. “We were like, why is she packing? Where are we going? And she told us we were moving.”

The first move made way for many in the future. While at Grambling State University, she lived in numerous states for internships. She has even lived in Abu Dhabi. That first move taught Smith how to take that first step, and she has traveled ever since.

“For my mom to have faith to move when she did, it encouraged me to have the faith to move when I did,” Smith said.

Her latest move brought her to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she continues working remotely after joining Tulsa Remote. The program allows her the flexibility to travel regularly, run two businesses, and manage others remotely.

“I have shown the ability to move and adapt to a place,” Smith said. “When I do that, I meet people. I learn more about myself. I grow as a person, and my goals and aspirations expand. Tulsa remote was very much just up the alley of something I would do just because I like traveling.”

Tulsa Remote says its purpose is to relocate full-time remote workers to Tulsa. Tierra Smith is still working in her full-time remote role in Tulsa while pursuing her other businesses.

“I need to travel a lot for work and I need to travel a lot for my business,” Smith said. “It gives me the flexibility not to be stuck in one place at one time.”

Smith works remotely full-time for Black Enterprise as a Social Media Editor. After she clocks out, she puts on her entrepreneur cap and locks in working on her other two businesses Wins For Black Girls, a media company focused on spreading good news about Black women, and her second business launched in Tulsa called Watch Me Win

“Tulsa Remote was just the avenue in which I was able to live out this dream.”

Smith says her dream involved attending Transformation Church, which she had watched online for a while before joining Tulsa Remote, walking along the sidewalks of Black Wall Street, and being surrounded by the abundance of history. Her desire involved not being confined to a single office space, but working while being able to travel for days to weeks at a time. She made Tulsa her home.

“My goal was to grow physically, to focus on my health, to grow spiritually, to grow mentally, to grow my business, and to grow professionally,” Smith said. “Throughout that process, being able to focus on myself, focus on my business, I’m able to achieve those things.”

Tulsa Remote offers a $10,000 grant to help you make Tulsa your new headquarters and your new home. Smith says they also set people up to thrive.

“The community is so tight-knit that there wasn’t anything that I ever needed that I could not get or receive or get the information to figure out how to get it,” Smith said.

The Launching of a New Business: Watch Me Win

Wins for Black Girls is a business that Smith brought to Tulsa. By being in Tulsa, and learning more about Black Wall Street and the power of building digital platforms, she began to understand the history and see how she could make a difference in the present day.

“So many Black businesses were burnt down,” Smith said. “It encouraged me to think beyond walls, beyond just what we can see physically and how we can connect and build community on a larger scale across the country.”

That’s when Watch Me Win was born, a marketplace and content platform for female entrepreneurs, content creators, and professionals. It’s for people seeking to sell products, fund their projects, and build community. Just as Tulsa Remote opened doors for Smith to immerse herself into a new community- Smith has created a virtual community in Watch Me Win.

“If it’s virtually or in person, we all need community,” Smith said. “If we lack community, then we kind of lack the tools, resources, and people that are going to take us to the next level.”

Her goal is to be the fastest-growing marketplace and content platform for women. For her, to accomplish this goal she must raise $500,000 and reach 100,000 subscribers.

Tierra Smith says she is actively looking for investors and partners.
