The nominations for the 75th Emmy Awards were announced this week.
Television’s top honor favored HBO-MAX original programming, with three of the ‘pay cable/streaming’ platform’s series leading the way in nominations.
HBO’s dramatic comedy, “Succession,” dominates with 27 nominations.
Following behind with 24 nominations is fellow HBO production, “The Last of Us.” The post-apocalyptic drama is the first video game adaptation to receive Emmy attention.
Closing out the top three is season 2 of “The White Lotus,” landing 23 nominations.
The HBO-MAX conglomerate has no other contenders in the outstanding supporting actor in a drama series category.
The controversial Netflix drama, “Dahmer,’ is listed in four out of the five categories for outstanding limited series. Niecy Nash-Betts gains her fourth Primetime Emmy nomination for her portrayal in the series about the infamous serial killer.
Dominique Fishback was acknowledged for her role in Donald Glover’s “Swarm,” with a nomination for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or TV movie.
ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” is the only scripted primetime series to land any major nods. Qunita and crew received eight noms, including outstanding comedy.
The 75th Primetime Emmys are slated to air on Fox on September 18.
