GREENWOOD DIST. – The Black Wall Street Times proudly endorses Vanessa Hall-Harper for re-election as District 1 Tulsa City Councilor. A tireless advocate for social justice, economic development, and community empowerment, Hall-Harper’s “unbought and unbossed” approach continues to resonate with north Tulsans living in District 1.

From championing the legacy and preservation of the Greenwood District (i.e., Black Wall Street) to addressing food deserts and systemic racism, Vanessa Hall-Harper has been a beacon of progress and change.

Hall-Harper track record includes critical achievements like the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Resolution and Beyond Apology, which shows her dedication to addressing historical and systemic injustices. Moreover, she founded the city’s Greater Tulsa African American Affairs Commission.

Vanessa Hall-Harper’s proactive work on economic development, such as opening the Oasis Fresh Market, directly addresses the needs of her community, particularly in underserved areas. Hall-Harper co-founded our community’s annual Tulsa Juneteenth festival and Black Wall Street Chamber of Commerce alongside the late beloved community leader Sherry Gamble Smith.

Vanessa Hall-Harper’s focus on tangible community empowerment initiatives, such as expungement expos, demonstrates her ability to translate advocacy into action that improves lives.

Although married to a police officer and supportive of the Black Officers Coalition, she has consistently advocated for better police oversight, which the Black Officers Coalition supports.

While Angela Chambers brings fresh perspectives, she has yet to gain the extensive experience Vanessa Hall-Harper has gained over her multiple terms in office. Chambers also opposed the Black Wall Street National Monument, going against the wishes of the last living survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and their descendants.

Hall-Harper’s deep understanding of District 1’s unique challenges and her proven track record in delivering results make her the clear choice for continued progress in District 1.
