The next Mayor of Tulsa needs to have courage, strength, vision AND a plan.
The Mayor I will vote for on August 27 is Rep. Monroe Nichols.
Yes, Monroe walks into the job ready day one — having worked in the mayor’s office, in education focusing on higher ed and career tech and education equity nationally, having had a front-row seat to the City’s economic development with his position in the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce and presently serving Tulsa as a state representative.
But it is more than that. Monroe has listened, analyzed and reviewed the issues facing our city: homelessness, education, economic growth and opportunity, relationships with our Tribes and most of all, safety of our citizens — and has shared his plan. He isn’t spewing political platitudes. He isn’t hiding from hard decisions. He has outlined his plans to address these issues and asks to be held accountable to those plans.
Monroe understands that being Mayor is more than a full-time job. It’s not a meeting once a month. It is having a vision and a plan to execute that vision and managing a large organization that focuses on the goals of the city long term; the actions that impact generations.
This election isn’t about friendships or which name is most familiar to us. Friendship isn’t on the ballot. Public safety, homelessness, education – the issues that impact YOU every day are on the ballot.

Monroe’s career has been about serving this City. While there are candidates who have been around a bit longer, no one has the broad experience it takes to be the Mayor of Tulsa as Monroe does. Trust me, I know a bit about the job.
What we have seen on the national political scene is reflected in our city. It is time for a new generation of leadership to lead our city. We can be thankful for the work of those who have led our community in the past, but the challenges we face now need a new kind of energy – a leader with vision AND a plan.
Your vote on August 27 is a vote for the future of our city and a vote to decide who is ready with a plan to lead Tulsa into the future. I sat in the chair, I know what it takes to lead this City. When you evaluate this race based on what’s best for today and future generations of Tulsans, the choice could not be any clearer. Monroe Nichols is the Mayor Tulsa needs, the Mayor with a plan. Monroe Nichols has my vote on August 27, and I hope he has yours.
