Supporting the Greenwood District

The Historic Greenwood Main Street organization, a non-profit dedicated to revitalizing the Greenwood District, plays a pivotal role in organizing this event. Their comprehensive four-point approach, known as D-O-P-E, guides their efforts:

  • Design: Enhancing the physical appearance of the district through historic preservation, streetscape improvements, building renovations, and public art installations.
  • Organization: Building a strong, community-driven organization to lead the revitalization effort by establishing partnerships, recruiting volunteers, and securing funding.
  • Promotion: Developing effective marketing and promotional strategies to raise awareness and visibility, attract visitors and customers, and celebrate the district’s unique character and events.
  • Economic Vitality: Strengthening the local economy through business recruitment and retention, entrepreneurial support, market analysis, and financial incentives.

By focusing on these interconnected points, the Historic Greenwood Main Street organization aims to create a comprehensive and sustainable approach to revitalizing and managing the Greenwood District.

Encouraging HBCU Attendance and Support

The Tulsa HBCU Send-off is also an opportunity to encourage students to attend an HBCU and to support these institutions through donations. Attendees are urged to contribute to their local HBCUs, helping to ensure the continued success and growth of these vital educational institutions.
