RALEIGH, N.C. — The campaign of Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s lieutenant governor and Republican gubernatorial candidate, is in disarray after senior leadership staff resigned over the weekend following the discovery of disturbing online posts Robinson made over a decade ago.

The posts, in which Robinson referred to himself as a “black Nazi,” defended slavery, and made derogatory remarks about civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., have shaken his bid for the state’s highest office.

Robinson’s Past Online Posts Defend Slavery, Praise Hitler, and Attack Dr. King

Robinson, a Black politician known for his far-right views, posted a series of inflammatory comments on a p*rnography site called “Nude Africa” between 2008 and 2012.

In these posts, he not only justified slavery but also admitted to voyeuristic behaviors, such as watching women shower without them knowing, and admitted to consuming transgender pornography.

He demeaned Dr. King, referring to him as “Martin Lucifer Coon”, adding that he’s “worse than a maggot.”

In one of the most shocking posts, he stated that he preferred Adolf Hitler over then-President Barack Obama and responded to an Obama speech with: “Get that f-ing commie b*stard off the national mall.”

Key Staff Resignations

In response to the scandal, senior campaign staff, including Conrad Pogorzelski III, Robinson’s senior adviser and former chief of staff, campaign manager Chris Rodriguez, the finance director, and deputy campaign manager, have all stepped down from their roles.

Notably, Pogorzelski had been a key figure in Robinson’s political rise, playing a pivotal role in his 2020 election as lieutenant governor.

Republicans Distance Themselves from Robinson Amid Campaign Turmoil

Robinson acknowledged the departures in a statement, saying, “I appreciate the efforts of these team members who have made the difficult choice to step away from the campaign, and I wish them well in their endeavors.”

As the controversy unfolds, the Republican Party and prominent figures appear to be distancing themselves from Robinson. Former President Donald Trump, who previously featured Robinson at campaign events in North Carolina, omitted any mention of him at a recent rally in the state.

Meanwhile, Senator Lindsey Graham commented on CNN, saying, “If the allegations are true, Robinson is unfit to serve. If they are not true, he has the best lawsuit in the history of the country for libel.”

The resignations represent a pivotal moment for Robinson’s campaign, as his team struggles to manage the backlash from the controversial posts, leaving his future in the race uncertain. While Robinson denies the accusations, the documented evidence appears to implicate him directly.
