The NFL and NFLPA have agreed on a settlement for Deshaun Watson of an 11-game suspension and a $5 million fine.
The National Football League (NFL) and National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) have agreed to a settlement for Deshaun Watson’s violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
Watson was initially suspended on August 1, by an independent judge for six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Former U.S. District Judge Sue L. Robinson ruled that Watson would be suspended for six games after two dozen civil lawsuits were filed alleging he committed sexual misconduct during massage sessions.

Watson has been accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women dating from March 2020 through March 2021. At the time, Watson was a member of the Houston Texans but was traded to the Cleveland Browns in March 2022 and given a new five-year contract worth $230 million guaranteed. It’s the richest deal for any player in NFL history.
Two days later the NFL appealed the six-game suspension arguing that Watson should be suspended for at least the entire 2022 season.
Thursday afternoon it was announced that the NFL and NFLPA came to an agreement for Watson to serve an 11-game suspension as well as pay a $5 million fine. There was no fine included in the initial suspension.
