GREENWOOD Dist. – On Thursday, April 18th, the Greenwood Cultural Center (GCC) will host its annual Greenwood Cultural Center Legacy Award Dinner: a celebration of history, culture, and community. The event will also commence with a reception at 6:30 PM, with dinner served promptly at 7 PM. This year’s Legacy Award will pay tribute to the Osage Nation and recognize their significant contributions to the region’s cultural tapestry.

One of the evening’s highlights will include a captivating performance by the Osei Singers of the Oscar-nominated song “Wahzhazhe,” translating to “A Song for My People,” as prominently featured in the acclaimed film “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

“We’re so excited to honor our friends in the Osage Nation with our Legacy Award.  We see in the Osage the same kind of resilience demonstrated through the years by our Black Wall Street forebearers. Our histories intersect and overlap.” Frances Jordan-Rakestraw, Executive Director of the Greenwood Cultural Center, shared with The Black Wall Street Times.

The Greenwood Cultural Center Legacy Award Dinner serves as the GCC’s primary fundraising event. It plays a pivotal role in supporting the center’s vital work in the Tulsa community.
